Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A huge national honor for a Fargo woman whose local non-profit is being recognized for its empowering women project.

Cris Linnares and her Women's Impact organization received Glamour Magazine's Hometown Hero award. The magazine honored one woman from each state in the country. Linnares took part in the Carnegie Hall ceremony this week in New York City.

Her non-profit, Women's Impact, hosts events and conferences throughout the year in an effort to empower women.

"This is not just recognition for one person, but for every woman in north dakota who makes a difference, it does not matter about color of their skin or nationality if you have the heart to make a diffrerence."

The honor was part of Glamour's 25th Anniversary Women of the Year Awards.

Cris is part of our WDAY family. Her husband, Bill Marcil Jr., is President and CEO of Forum Communications.
