International Falls Area Flooding

Emergency sandbagging is under way in the International Falls area in Northern Minnesota due to rapidly rising waters on Rainy Lake and the Rainy Lake River. Volunteers have filled about 50,000 sandbags to protect homes. Minnesota Highway 11 is also closed due to water over the road near Loman. Many people are working around the clock to save homes and businesses.

Flood victim, Ashley Belanger, says, "Were just doing what we can. I mean you keep sandbagging and keep hoping the water is going to go down and there is nothing else you can really do."

Hundreds of docks on Rainy Lake are also now underwater as the lake rises. Some were damaged last week when the high water combined with heavy winds.
