Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo students are paying it forward, helping others in the community who are in need.

Today at Fargo North High, teams of students handed out cash.

It's a collaboration with the Legacy Children's Foundation and Bell State Bank.

Each student was given 100-dollars from the bank, to give to a family or organization in the F-M area.

Students pitched proposals of who should receive the cash to a mock "board of directors," before handing it out.

A family who recently lost their father and other families battling cancer were some of the recipients.

Ajnur Berisa/Fargo North Senior: "I have met a few people that have cancer but never really helped them out or been to a fundraiser for them or nothing. So this is good, check off my bucket list. Hey I helped someone out with cancer. I did my part. It feels great."

Legacy Children's Foundation says much is said about teens causing trouble and this shows there is another side to students in our community.
