Kat Perkins goes 'Frozen' on 'The Voice'
Kat Perkins has earned the reputation as the rockin' nanny on "The Voice," but she showed her pop side Monday, including singing "Let It Go" from the Disney movie "Frozen."
The lead up to "Let It Go" prominently featured Perkins' hometown of Scranton, N.D., and the Keller family of Minneapolis, for whom Perkins worked as a nanny. The Keller family was in the audience.
Perkins is one of five finalists on the NBC singing competition.
Perkins put her personal rock spin on "Let It Go" and drew praise from the judges.
"That's a complicated song to sing, and everybody loves that record," Usher said. "It was a classic performance."
Shakira called the song an "unexpected pick" for Perkins, but said it continued to show "another side" of her musical abilities.
Perkins' first song Monday, picked by coach Adam Levine, was "Chandelier" by Sia. It was her first foray into the pop genre on the show.
Levine called Perkins the most consistent performer on the The Show.
"Week to week throughout this entire competition, everybody has had their ups and downs," Levine said. "No one has been more consistent. You're always right on the money and soulful and beautiful."
