St. Paul, MN (CNN) - A Minnesota world war two veteran will walk the red carpet Wednesday with one of Hollywood’s top actors.

See why movie makers sought out his valuable insight.

Yeah.”

George Smilanich is more a football fan than a movie man. Which may explain his reaction, when Brad Pitt came calling.

George Smilanich, WWII Veteran: “I said who the hell is Brad Pitt.”

George and wife Mary aren't asking anymore.

“Brad, myself and George.”

After their trip to Hollywood last year where George was among four WWII veterans consulting on Brad Pitt's new movie Fury.

“I started this war killing Germans in Africa, now I'm killing Germans in Germany.”

Same goes for George.

“And this is me.”

From Africa to Normandy Beach to liberating Belgium and Holland as a tank driver for three years during WWII.

George says, “It's kind of tough, I can't tell you, how it was.”

Yet talk he did for hours with Brad Pitt and the other actors.

George says, “They asked what life was like on a tank, what we did for excitement, what we were eating.”

He told them how he earned the bronze star for pulling his trapped commander from a burning tank. And about temperatures so cold his feet were nearly amputated from frostbite.

George says, “I wouldn't give up my experiences if I had for a million dollars, but I wouldn't take five cents to go through it again.”

“Choke her up, she's cold.”

When fury's stars walk the red carpet on Wednesday,

“Me and Brad.”

Mary and George will rejoin their new friend.

Mary Smilanich/Wife: “I'm touching him in every way; I've got my hand around his arms.”

Brad Pitt says it's going to be blockbuster and you can believe it.

Maybe even better than football.
