Barnesville, Minn. (WDAY TV) - The city of Barnesville is hoping the 3rd time is the charm. Its first 2 attempts to hire a City Manager failed so now the city council has decided to change consulting companies, WDAY 6 Reporter Todd Kurtz has the story.

Temporary protection
March 18, 2010Day two of work on temporary flood protection in Lisbon is moving along quickly as the town plans for two crests. Crews are building more clay levees, closer to the river, because of a lack of volunteers filling sandbags.
Goal reached
March 18, 2010Fargo's week long flood fight plan is right on schedule. Volunteers are no longer needed at sandbag central. It's been idled. The call now is for sandbaggers to build levees, and protect the city to 40 feet.
Principal helps push
March 18, 2010A final push in Moorhead to prepare neighborhoods for a weekend crest. Helping make it a big push are 300 Minnesota National Guardsmen, now on the ground. At the forefront, a high school principal.

Illegal fire?
March 18, 2010The town of Lisbon could be in serious trouble with the state of North Dakota after taking drastic measures to protect the city from rising flood waters. City leaders tonight admitted to burning down a flood buyout home because it was in the way of a dike they wanted to build and they didn't get state permission to do it.

Joining the fight
March 18, 2010Strangers quickly become friends on the sandbag lines, even when some of the volunteers are serving time behind bars. Inmates from Clay, Becker, Hubbard and Otter Tail county jails arrived to help fight the flood in rural Moorhead. The prisoners were eager to help.
Water in ditches
March 18, 2010It's a problem Cass County officials say is only going to get worse in the coming days: Water-filled ditches. After a double-fatal rollover accident Tuesday where a dive team had to pull passengers out, authorities say the problem isn't just people swerving into these low-lying areas by accident, but those using it for some dangerous fun.
In need of volunteers
March 17, 2010Water is already swallowing backyards in Cass County and volunteers to help protect homes are hard to come by.
