Mahnomen, MN (WDAY TV) - Thomas Fairbanks will spend the rest of his life in prison without the chance for parole for killing Deputy Chris Dewey. For the Dewey family, they say justice is done, but the Fairbanks family says it's not over, the sentence is not fair, and they plan to appeal.
CROOKSTON - Thomas Fairbanks took the stand in his own defense Tuesday in his murder trial, admitting he was responsible - and no one else - for shooting Mahnomen County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Dewey.
CROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) — Jurors have "dry-fired" the handgun used in the fatal shooting of a Mahnomen County sheriff's deputy. Each of the 15 jurors filed out of the jury box Tuesday, took the empty 9 mm semi-automatic and fired it six times into a "bullet-trap."
