FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - Animal rights groups have turned out at a court hearing for a Minnesota man charged with trying to kill his dog. Twenty-four-year-old Benjamin Stavaas (STAH'-vuhs) of Battle Lake appeared in Otter Tail County Court on Monday.
(WDAY TV) - A break in the case of a Battle Lake man on the run, accused of brutally slitting the throat of his one year old dog then leaving her for dead. We've followed the torture of Star, since mid-summer. Tonight, authorities believe they are one step closer to arresting her owner, a fugitive.
Fergus Falls, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A Fergus Falls man is accused of threatening another man with a loaded gun. 69-year-old Richard Stavaas faces charges of 2nd degree assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.
While Stavaas didn't make it to his court appearance, animal activists took over the sidewalk in front of the Otter Tail County courthouse, showing support for abused animals and requesting the harshest penalties against their abusers.
Fergus Falls, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Animal rights activists plan a protest in Fergus Falls tomorrow morning for the dog that had her throat slashed twice. The dog's owner, 23 year old Benjamin Stavaas, of Battle Lake, is charged with six animal cruelty charges.
