FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) — Residents in the North Dakota county that encompasses most of the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation finally had their say on the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The state Board of Higher Education is expected to vote Thursday on whether to direct the University of North Dakota to resume efforts to retire the school's Fighting Sioux nickname.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It has been a hot-button issue for years. The much talked about, much debated Fighting Sioux nickname debate. Voters are trying to decide, once and for all, whether to retire it or keep it and risk sanction by the NCAA.
Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - A long-time supporter of the Fighting Sioux nickname is changing his tune. UND hockey coach Dave Hakstol says mandating the use of it by law creates insurmountable challenges for the university.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) _ For the first time since the Sioux logo controversy erupted, we get a closer look into why the people of the Standing Rock Reservation are absent in the fight. Today, the Spirit Lake Tribe came to Fargo arguing to keep the Sioux Name and Logo.
