Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Speaking of liquor, it's an issue that comes up every year - Minnesota liquor stores opening on Sundays.
But now, Governor Mark Dayton says he'd sign a bill allowing it if it came to his desk.
Steven Hoffman at 99 Bottles in Moorhead says the store likely loses business they would otherwise get on Sundays.
Employees of Grand Forks liquor stores say they welcome a proposed bill to change business hours of similar stores in Minnesota. The bill would allow Minnesota, one of only 14 states to close liquor stores on Sundays, to stay open like in North Dakota.
WINONA, Minn. (AP) — People like to drink in Winona, and the numbers back it up. The city has 91 liquor licenses — one for every 335 people. Compare that to 550 people per license in Faribault, 447 in Austin, and 394 in Owatonna, and Winona has more licenses per capita than any similar-sized city in Minnesota.
Detroit Lakes, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Bar owners in Detroit Lakes are frustrated with the city. They're being forced to pay a steep hike in their liquor license fee. Bar owners and managers in Detroit Lakes say they understand fees and taxes increasing, but almost all of them are against this new increase. They say it's too much too quick.
