VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Emergency repairs are slated to begin this week at a damaged dam in southeast North Dakota. KOVC radio reports that Excavating Inc. of Fargo was awarded a contract last week to shore up the dam's emergency spillway.

(AP) — The mostly elderly residents of a tiny North Dakota town are bracing for another possible evacuation this spring if snow runoff again eats through a dilapidated earthen dam, which has yet to see even the first phase of $1.8 million worth of renovations that was to have been completed months ago.
Kathryn, ND (WDAY TV) - The small town of Kathryn North Dakota has been forced to prepare for disaster once again this spring. You may remember back in '09 the spillway at Clausen Springs Dam began to give way, and Kathryn was evacuated. Work to patch up the dam was scheduled to be finished by this flood, but crews haven't finished the job.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Officials say the cost of repairing Clausen Springs Dam in southeast North Dakota has gotten more affordable. Renovation for the earthen dam near Kathryn is expected to cost about $1.8 million.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The cost of repairing Clausen Springs Dam south of Valley City will be close to $6 million — double the earlier estimate, engineers told the Barnes County Water Resource District.
Kathryn, ND (WDAY TV) - People living in the small town of Kathryn, North Dakota hope they never have to see floodwaters coming through the neighborhood again. In 2009, the North Dakota Guard was called in after a spillway at Clausen Springs Dam began eroding. It forced the evacuation of Kathryn, just south of Valley City. Last spring, floodwaters threatened again.
Kathryn, ND (WDAY TV) - National Guardsmen built Clausen Springs in the 1960's. Since then, many have helped the town of Kathryn fight back floodwaters. So this weekend, people in the town are recognizing those guardsmen for all their efforts in 09.
