(WDAY TV) - Clay County Commissioners are doing their part to help protect Georgetown from flooding. The Buffalo-Red River Watershed District applied for an easement to build a dike across a one and a half acre lot owned by the county.
Georgetown, MN (WDAY TV) - Some troubling news tonight for several small-town post offices in our area. The postal service is threatening to shut down 1 in 10 offices in the Minnesota and North Dakota.
Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Flood prevention projects in the Red River Valley are taking a major hit. The Minnesota House failed to get enough votes to pass a 47-million dollar bonding bill. More than half of that money was slated for flood project here. Now, the leaders of the communities that were in line for the money are trying to figure out what to do.
Georgetown, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Georgetown, Perley, and Hendrum, Minnesota all faced some tense moments during the flood of 2011. While the levees went up quickly in all three cities, the clean up in each is very different.
At 5:20 a.m. this morning, Moorhead Police and Fire Departments responded to 2913 Hanover for a report of a vehicle that was on fire in the driveway. Upon extinguishing the flames, it was determined by evidence at the scene that an accelerant was used and that the fire was intentionally started.
With Georgetown nearly finished, crews from there were moved quickly north to Perley, Minnesota where there is fear that the water could overtop the levee. One after another dump trucks dropped clay on Highway 75 in Perley. On the west side of town, clay was scooped right from the water and placed on top of the permanent levee.
Georgetown, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Crews and volunteers worked feverishly today, adding two feet of muscle and comfort to the dike that rings the entire Clay County village of Georgetown, just north of Moorhead. Conditions and bad luck made the job a challenge.

(WDAY TV) - The wicked wind hampered a fire fight that destroyed two small farm buildings on property owned by two Fargo Police officers. It happened at 12-83 200TH Avenue North in rural Georgetown around 3:15 this afternoon.
