(WDAY TV) - This winter is already one of the top ten snowiest on record. Rivers are running high and the ground is saturated. Flooding this spring is nearly a certainty. How does this year compare to previous floods and can we avoid a major flood? Meteorologist Rob Kupec, along with the rest of our Stormtracker team, examines how that can happen.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The hard data is sobering. Never, in a hundred years, has the Red River been flowing at the high rate we are witnessing right now. Summer rain storms are still haunting us. The average flow here at the Red is about 250 cubic feet per second. Right now we are looking at flows of about 1500 CFS and that's a problem.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's the most important number that will determine the extent of our spring flood: moisture content. Today, the first numbers from our region, from a special flight, in a special plane. WDAY-6 Stormtracker meteorologist Daryl Ritchison was the only person from our area on that flight today.
