Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- With blowing snow reducing visibility, highway authorities issued a travel alert Thursday morning for much of North Dakota, including Fargo, and temporarily closed part of Interstate 94.
New York, NY (ABC News) - Travel chaos is escalating in the nation's South and West. According to FlightAware.com, there are nearly 2,900 flight cancellation in the United States today as of 10:45 a.m. That number has risen from about 2,600 early today.

Dickinson, ND (WDAY TV) - The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for eastern North Dakota between, and including, Highway 2 and I-94 due to areas of blowing snow and scattered ice creating hazardous driving conditions, especially in passing lanes. No travel is advised in Mercer or Oliver County due to extreme cold temperatures and icy county roads.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - We are descending into a real blizzard Friday night; travel is not advised throughout eastern North Dakota.
All day, cars have been sliding into the ditch and the road conditions are getting worse.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A warm-up in weather means a break from subzero temperatures, but it's added danger to area roads.
Travel is not advised in much of North Central and Northeastern North Dakota Friday night.
