Arrest made after a fatal Wyndmere bar shooting
Wyndmere, ND (WDAY TV) - A Wyndmere, North Dakota man is dead and another is in jail tonight, after a fight and gunfire at the Four Corners Bar. 46-year old Steven Rowland is in the Richland County jail being held on charges he shot and killed long time Wyndmere resident Gordy Vosberg who is in his late 50's.

Prisoners eager to help fight the flood
Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Strangers quickly become friends on the sandbag lines, even when some of the volunteers are serving time behind bars. Inmates from Clay, Becker, Hubbard and Otter Tail county jails arrived to help fight the flood in rural Moorhead. The prisoners were eager to help.

Area students step up to protect homeowners
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With police escort, more than a thousand students from area schools came out to save the city, again. Spring break may have cut into the volunteer force, but the high schools stepped up, and allowed teen-agers to fill and throw sand bags that will protect homeowners and the metro.

When should an elderly person's license be taken away?
(WDAY TV) - The family of man who went missing near Wadena, Minnesota this week told WDAY-6 News they warned Public Safety officials in St. Paul about David Paulson's Alzheimer's disease and the need to get him off the road. Authorities searched for Paulson earlier this week after he went missing for three days. He got stuck, and was found in the woods suffering from hypothermia.March 11, 2010

First security breach ever at Hector delays flights
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - T-S-A was forced to shutdown its security screening checkpoint at Hector Airport. It is the first "security breach" ever at Hector. This after a passenger coming off a flight walked back through a door he just came through. It delayed flights and passengers.

Builders are optimistic that the industry will turnaround from last year
(WDAY TV) - While homebuilders in Fargo-Moorhead saw their industry grind to a halt during last spring's flood, there is optimism in the air about the next few months. Those selling lumber and those building homes say it appears this spring will be a turnaround from last year, this despite some roller-coaster prices for building supplies.

Family rescues pets from burning home
Enderlin, ND (WDAY TV) - A rural Enderlin, North Dakota family tonight is looking for a new place to live after a midnight fire swept through their home. Dave and Laurie Geyer were still up when they smelled smoke and noticed the roof on fire. Firefighters believe it started near the chimney.

Changes on the way as the Postal Service wrestles with budget shortfall
(WDAY TV) - More changes are ahead for customers and carriers with the U-S Postal Service. The Postmaster General said today that within a year it could mean "no" Saturday mail service. This as the Postal Service wrestles with a 7-billion dollar shortfall this year alone.

Equipment and furnishings from bought out homes get recycled
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The city of Fargo is talking with four more families in the Southwood Drive neighborhood about a possible buyout. The families were notified over the weekend that the city wants to discuss possible buyout plans now so that the city can clear those homes for dike protection.

Gardner man who collapsed from a heart attack while skiing is amazed by his 'Miracle in the Snow'
(WDAY TV) - As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice," tonight, a 78-year old retired farmer from Gardner is amazed at his "Miracle in the Snow." Paul Pratt was skiing at Maplelag near Detroit Lakes, when he collapsed from a heart attack. His good fortune, is almost hard to believe.

Fergus Falls woman given the green light to escort adopted children out of Haiti
(WDAY TV) - In Fergus Falls tonight, there is hope and good news coming from Haiti. Sara Thacker traveled from Otter Tail County to Haiti to not only pick up her newly adopted son, but escort five other children whose families were waiting at the airport in Miami. The adoptions had been arranged long before the earthquake.
