Holiday Shopping Season

In this Nov. 22, 2012 file photo, Shopper Roxanna Garcia, middle, waits in line to pay for her over a $1000.00 gifts at the Target store in Burbank, Calif. Now that the U.S. has averted a default on its debt that could have sent the economy into a tailspin, it seems retailers avoided a train wreck heading into the holiday shopping season. Retailers hope that shoppers forget about the fact that the plan offers only a short reprieve until early next year long enough to open their pocketbooks. But they’re fearful that consumers, facing a bombardment of news about continued political bickering, could hunker down until there’s a permanent resolution. (AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes)
