Randall Kerrick

This booking photo provided by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, shows Charlotte police officer Randall Kerrick. Kerrick was charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death Saturday of Jonathan A. Ferrell. 24, a former football player for Florida A&M University. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Ferrell had apparently been in a wreck and was seeking help at a nearby house early Saturday. A woman answered the door and, when she didn’t recognize the man, called 911. Officers responding to the breaking-and-entering call found Ferrell near the home, police said and as they approached him, Ferrell ran toward the officers and was hit with a Taser. Police say he continued to run toward them when officer Randall Kerrick fired his gun, hitting Ferrell several times. Ferrell died at the scene. (AP Photo/Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office)
