School Costume Apology

Mary Thomas, left, Lisa Barnett, center, and Tyra Williams, three mothers of eighth-grade basketball players at Parkview Middle School in Jeffersonville, In., attend a meeting Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, in New Albany, Ind., about a situation earlier this month at a middle school basketball game that prompted several Jeffersonville parents to complain about a racially derogatory atmosphere. A handful of students at the district's Highland Hills Middle School wore black masks, including a gorilla mask and one featuring President Barack Obama's likeness, to a Feb. 7 eighth-grade basketball game between the schools.
