Nemenhah leader defends group

STOCKTON, Mo. (AP) — A southwest Missouri man runs an Internet-based group that's in the spotlight because of one of its members fled with her cancer-stricken son to avoid chemotherapy. Philip Cloudpiler Landis leads the Nemenhah (nuh-MEHN'-hah) Band, which he says has about 4,000 members across the U.S. He calls it a religion based on natural healing.
