Nichole Shotwell

Nichole grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Atmospheric Science and minors in Geography and Psychology.

While attending college, she was a member of Studio One, UND’s student run television program, working on both the news and weather teams. She was also an anchor for UND’s Weather Update, a student produced weather show. During the summers of 2009 and 2010, Nichole interned with WDAY in the Weather Center and News Room. She has also interned with the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

Along with following the weather, Nichole is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing and watching all sports. Her two favorite teams to follow are the Minnesota Vikings and she is a die hard Fighting Sioux Hockey fan. She also enjoys exploring the great outdoors and photography.

Nichole is no stranger to North Dakota. Throughout her years she has made countless trips to visit family in both Fargo and Grand Forks. She looks forward to forecasting the challenging weather of the Red River Valley as well as being active in the community.

Kindred, ND (WDAY TV) - Tomorrow you can help women in need. Ken Sperry hand makes everything from picture frames, tables, and chairs, all the way to boats. His furniture will be auctioned off in hopes to raise money for his local church.
