Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) - When the NDSU women's basketball team lost to Omaha this past Saturday, the Bison knew they were walking off the BSA floor for the final time.

For head coach Carolyn DeHoff, it will be the final home game she ever coaches for the Bison.

DeHoff announced today that she'll resign, effective at the end of the season.

In six seasons under DeHoff, the NDSU women's basketball team, never improved its win total from one year to the next.

This year, they've secured their second 20 loss season in three years.

DeHoff says it was a decision she reached, just recently.

Carolyn Dehoff, Bison women’s basketball head coach: “Last weekend didn't fare so well for us, obviously from a outcome standpoint. The kids are getting beat up pretty good you know social media. I just think the kids are being unjustly being beat up from social media, and I have to take that off of them because that's on me. So I just think it's time for me to let them know that we are going to finish this out together.”

Women's AD, Lynn Dorn says they plan to finish the season with the current staff in place and then expect to move quickly opening up a national search.
