Fargo, ND (DAY TV) - Plenty of people will be thinking about Zach tomorrow as state opens in Grand Forks, on the girls side; West Fargo is again one of the contenders for a state championship propelled there by line that has dominated the competition
That top line consisting of Kelly Krahn, Allison Springer and Janey Sandoval all rank in the top ten scorers in the State, combining for a total of 150 points in just 23 games…
Pat Johnson/West Fargo Head Coach: "They got good speed together; they move the puck well together."
Kelly Krahn/West Fargo Sr. Forward: " Me and Ali have been playing together forever so me and her know how to move the puck well and Janie just coming in, she really knows how to move the puck with us. We just know where each other are."
Janey Sandoval/West Fargo Fr. Forward: “We just spread out well and I just try to look for Kelly, she is always open. I really just work on passing to them because they are our main scorers."
That statement may be a stretch, considering Sandoval leads the state in scoring, averaging over 2 and a half points a game. And she is only a Freshman,
Krahn: "It's actually really cool to see someone that young come up and skate like she can without level.
Johnson: "They put the time in and they want to be at that level and you can tell definitely Janey wants to be at that level so she is going to work her butt off to be a part of that."
Even though the Packers seem to have no trouble putting the put in the net, they know it is how they play in the defensive zone which could put them over the top…
Johnson: “I think this ear more than others everybody is startin to buy into it. Take p ride in the fact that everybody, your whole team is playing a good solid defensive game, plus an offensive game."
Allison Springer/West Fargo Sr. Forward: “As long as we keep up the work in our defensive end, that could really push us."
Last season the only blemish for West Fargo was a lost to Bismarck in the State Championship game. The loss is stuck in the minds of Krahn and Springer and the two seniors are determined to make sure their last game in a Packer jersey has a different outcome.
Krahn: "We're just going to go out and take one game at a time and skate as hard as we can and hopefully that wins it for us."
Springer: “With losing last year, definitely took a toll on all of us. For myself and the couple other seniors coming back and getting back to that same spot we were at is what we are striving for."
