Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -The Olympic hockey tournament began today with the elimination round, where the field was cut from 12 to eight.

Canada was one of the four teams that received a bye into the quarterfinals, but has not looked impressive.

They are the defending gold medalists and know the pressure Russia is playing with this time around, to try and win the gold on home soil, but the players don't need any reminder of what's at stake.

Ryan Getzlaf, Team Canada forward: “I think any time when you're in the situation where you're win or go home urgency level goes up like playoffs have a group has experience, draw on that going into game, don't have a sense of more pressure, come here with mentality to win, organization has put together that pushes for that, push for gold medal every time we're here.

Canada will face Latvia tomorrow, who upset Switzerland 3-1, while Slovenia took out Austria. They'll play top seed Sweden.

Other side of the bracket had the Czech Republic hold off Slovakia, they'll play the Americans, while Russia shut out Norway, home team faces Finland.
