East Grand Forks, MN (WDAY TV) - Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar used an East Grand Forks company today as an example of why our area and the country need a strong farm bill. Lawmakers passed the new farm bill 10 days ago.

The Senator made a stop at Mayo Manufacturing where 35 employees have been turning out potato handling equipment since 1952. The company is an example of how farming is about farmers, but also about the equipment being used.

Senator Amy Klobuchar – Minnesota (D): "What I think it will do is, as it transitions from direct payments to crop insurance, it just gives that certainty that you need to be able to invest. Otherwise we're gonna go back to 1949 prices, which, we wouldn't be partying like it is 1949. It would have been an unfortunate situation."

Senator Klobauchar and Congressman Collin Peterson say they worked together to help solidify the Farm Bill.
