Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo school district is taking steps to prevent what happened at the start of this school year, when classes were cancelled because schools were too hot.

New heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems are on the way for two elementary schools.

At a special school board meeting, members awarded contracts for Madison and McKinley Elementary.

The two are the first of six elementary schools approved for new systems back in December.

Broc Lietz/Fargo Public Schools Business Manager: “It is exciting to know that we'll be moving forward with these projects and really be able to provide a better environment for all the students in Fargo Public Schools as we move forward."

Bids will open for new heating and air conditioning systems at a 3rd school next week.
