Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -A new e-cigarette store is coming to Fargo, claiming to target people who care about their health.

Sports Vape opens later this month. Its sign advertises sports apparel, an oxygen bar and e-cigarettes.

Critics of the new e-cig craze say the devices are marketed as safe products to appeal to athletes and others who care about their health

But e-cigarettes are not regulated by the FDA meaning no one knows how safe they really are.

Keely Ihry, Partnership 4 Health Tobacco coordinator: "They aren't really proven to be a safe alternative to smoking. There haven't been any long term studies done on what's being inhaled or that second hand vapor that's being given off are safe. Also not been proven a way to quit."

Studies show about four million Americans now use electronic cigarettes.
