Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A familiar sight in the area will soon be no more.
Stop-n-Go stores in North Dakota and Minnesota have been bought by Casey's General Store.
Stop-n-Go, a Fargo-based regional chain, has been a staple in the area for decades; but soon, 24 stoplight-themed gas stations will be re-branded as Casey's General Store.
Those who grew up here say seeing one of these around every corner has long been part of life in Fargo-Moorhead; but soon, they will disappear.
James Chloupek-Dilworth Resident: "It will be kind of weird."
Nicholas Wilson-Grew Up Here: "It's been around for a while."
News broke Wednesday that the days are numbered for Stop-n-Go stores, a convenience store chain headquartered in Fargo.
The rustic Casey's General Store logo will replace these red, yellow, and green lights.
Bill Walljasper, Senior Vice President and chief financial officer for the Iowa-based Casey's said:
"We have been eyeing for several years, trying to expand into that area. We certainly noticed Stop-n-Go as a very strong competitor."
He says they hope to expand even more in the state.
Wilson: "I always like local, so I don't know how I feel about that."
Though it will be different, some customers say change isn't always a bad thing.
Chloupek: "I think Casey's is better, anyway."
The sale should be finalized in May, and the stores will be rebranded soon after.
Casey's has more than 1,700 stores in 14 states.
