Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - North Dakota's only abortion clinic is in talks to settle a lawsuit it filed over an anti-abortion law passed last year. Negotiations are underway between the Red River Women's Clinic and the state of North Dakota.

The lawsuit was filed last year to challenge a law passed last March, requiring doctors who perform abortions to have hospital-admitting privileges. At the time, Red River Women's Clinic director Tammi Kromenaker said the law would make it virtually impossible to provide abortions, because its doctors are from out of state.

The New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights filed the lawsuit on behalf of the clinic last year. The case had been slated for trial this week, but that's been suspended pending a possible settlement.

Back in July, a state judge granted a preliminary injunction temporarily preventing the law from taking effect.
