Bison men’s basketball on top of Summit League

Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Bison men's basketball team sits on top of the Summit League standings with just three weeks to go, but it's a tenuous lead.

Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Bison men's basketball team sits on top of the Summit League standings with just three weeks to go, but it's a tenuous lead.

Considering the fact that NDSU heads out on the road this weekend for the final time.

Starting Thursday at Western Illinois, not a friendly spot for Saul Phillips team, a place they have not won since 2009 and with a defensive style of basketball, this is no walk in the park.

Taylor Braun, NDSU senior guard: “The environment that you're in when you're in Macomb the style of basketball that Western plays fits the city and the gym always a tough one to play with a ton of energy.”

Saul Phillips, NDSU head coach: “They can really get you on your heels, play slower, play extremely hard, play deliberate pace create some plays to pump some life into us there's no question about that.

NDSU heads to Omaha after the trip to Macomb, the top spot in the conference even more important this season, the number one seed gets a bye into the semifinals in Sioux Falls.
