Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) _ A man is behind bars tonight, accused of knocking on Moorhead doors pretending to be a police officer

Police arrested 29-year old Ivan Lonechild Junior of North Fargo just after 4am.

Police got multiple phone calls from people saying a man who looked confused and under the influence, was knocking on their door.

None of the residents let Lonechild in, saying he didn't look credible.

Lonechild was arrested for a pre-existing DWI warrant, impersonating an officer, giving a false name and disorderly conduct.

Lt. Tory Jacobson/Moorhead Police Department: “just this fact that you have somebody unidentified and unknown to a property that shows up at a front door. It reminds us that it’s important to have our doors locked, certainly because this person could have turned any door handles and tried to get in.”

Lonechild gave different explanations for knocking each time, ranging from being a Cass county deputy and police officer to a residential services officer warning about a storm.
