Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With more than 20,000 people preparing to converge downtown for this year's Fargo Marathon, parking has been a top concern.

Today, organizers of the marathon met with downtown business owners for an update on how plans are coming along.

This year is the tenth anniversary and the first time the event will begin and end downtown.

In addition to city parking, they are coordinating with businesses that are closed on Saturdays, asking for the use of their parking lots.

Mark Knutson/Fargo Marathon Executive Director: "Businesses that aren't open on Saturday, banks that aren't open, they've all said that would be no problem, go ahead and use our parking spots. So, there isn't one massive parking lot we can use, but there are a lot of little ones spread out throughout that radius."

Organizers say runners and spectators should get there early for the events, set for May 8th-10th.

At six, find out some of the concerns retailers have about the race.
