Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A Fargo man was arrested for impersonating a police officer after stopping at several Moorhead homes early Friday morning.

Ivan Ronald Lonechild Jr, 29, was confronted by police in the 8th Street and 23rd Avenue South area following a half-dozen calls to police of a man knocking on doors around 4 AM.

During each contact, Lonechild provided different explanations on why he was at the residence. Reasons included him being a Cass County Deputy checking on a disturbance to being with residential services and that there was a large storm outside. Calls indicated that Lonechild's claims were never deemed credible and that he was repeatedly denied access. Multiple callers described Lonechild as "confused or under the influence of something."

Police confronted Lonechild as he continued to try to make contact with homeowners. He was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Clay County Jail for an open misdemeanor DWI warrant. He was also booked on additional charges of Impersonating a Police Officer, Providing a False Name to a Police Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
