Students at NDSU raising money for Lexi Bolstad are off to a successful start.

The annual week long "Battle of the Cents-Es" penny war kicked off Sunday and runs through the week.

NDSU engineering students are up against the college of pharmacy, nursing, and allied sciences.

Both sides say the coins and dollars are coming in quick.

And even though competition is tough, the cause is top priority.

Ryan David, NDSU engineering senior: “Back in December, one of the pharmacy advisors brought up the idea of Lexi and we just wanted to have someone who was close here to the community and just kind of went with it and their family is very grateful to have us.”

President Bresciani stopped by the donations booths today.

The students are collecting money at the NDSU Student Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be out until Friday.
