Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -The State Department's final environmental impact statement again determines the Keystone XL pipeline poses no significant environmental risks, building pressure for President Obama's approval.

The $7 billion, 1,700 mile Keystone XL pipeline will carry over 800,000 barrels of oil a day to U.S. refineries.

That includes oil from Alberta, Canada, in addition to 100,000 barrels a day of crude from the U.S. Bakken region.

Sen. John Hoeven says it's a project about energy, economic growth and energy security.

Sen. Hoeven (R-ND): “We don't need to get oil from the Middle East. We can produce it right here at home, and we can work with our closest friend and ally, Canada, to produce more energy than we consume.”

The U.S. State Department says the construction phase will create 42,000 jobs.
