Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -For the first time in 10 days, the Minnesota Wild are back home tonight to host Tampa Bay.
It was a tough road trip for Minnesota; but they did get points in 3 of the 4 games, despite two of them being overtime losses and know they need to tighten things up defensively for tonight's matchup with the high-flying Lightning.
Mike Yeo, Wild head coach: “You can't control the game if you can't control the puck and I think the fact that we were very poor with the puck it led to too many chances against, it led to the first goal against not only in Calgary but also Colorado. We have to be better with the puck, being strong with it, hanging on to it. We talk about how we want to be a puck possession team well if you get the puck and you just throw it away to the other team then obviously that is not going to work out for you. When we are at our best we for sure attack off the rush and make plays through the neutral zone, but we have to spend time in the offensive zone and that was one thing that was non-existent in the first two periods in Calgary.”
Wild start the night in seventh place in the Western Conference standings; still no Mikko
Koivu in the lineup.
