Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A new commanding General of the Army Corps is in Fargo today, meeting local leaders who are involved in planning the Red River Diversion project.
US Army Corps of Engineers General Duke DeLuca met with the executive leadership council of the Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Authority.
DeLuca was briefed on the current status of the flood diversion project, and the damage floods have caused to our area in the past.
He also viewed the areas that will be affected by the project.
Brig. Gen. Duke Deluca/US Army Corps of Engineers: “There's nothing like seeing it on the ground, meeting the people involved. People who have things at stake. You always get better detail and understanding much more of what's happening.”
General DeLuca took command of the Mississippi Valley Division of the Corps of Engineers in September.
