Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) - Bismarck Police reported 72 accidents this January than last - more than 20% increase.

It's no surprise that more car accidents, means more repairs and judging from the lots of the body shops - it's tough to keep up with demand.

Scott Balliet has a tendency to get lost in his job

Scott Balliet/Duaneā€™s Body Shop: "It's kind of a maze right now."

That maze winds through the garages of Duane's Body Shop in Bismarck.

Balliet: "It's really busy-a lot of pressure on the guys-trying to get all these cars done."

Scott's guys fix cars.

This winter, more than ever.

Balliet: "I've never seen icy roads like this - you know - it's just constant ice and it's tough to drive on."

So tough, the guys a few blocks away at ABRA Body and Glass don't have enough spots in the lot.

"With the weather this year it's been kind of crazy - with rain, then it snowed, then it froze - it's kind of a disaster for lots of accidents you know."

Buller says his job as manager requires some therapy sessions with customers too.

"Just try to console them a little bit and say, you know, it's going to be okay. We're going to take care of you."

Customers will pick up 28 repaired vehicles from Duane's today.

Balliet says one day last week the tow trucks dropped off one car after another.

They call those, non-drive cars..

"We like to squeeze them in and get them in and out as fast as we can - and hopefully everybody can be patient and we'll try to get them done as quick as possible."

Some, Might be needed sooner than others.

Police say most of the accidents are fender benders.

They advise slowing down and making sure there is plenty of room between you and the car in front of you.
