Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - As the farm bill nears the finish line - local agricultural leaders got to hear about what it will mean for North Dakota.

Senator Hoeven held a roundtable today in Fargo to discuss the bill and some of its key components.

He says he's pushing to pass the Farm Bill and not just another farm bill extension...

The House just passed the five-year-bill and the Senate is set to take it up on Monday- with a vote possible by Tuesday.

John Hoeven/North Dakota Senator: “the key was getting a bill we could pass and a good bill for our farmers and ranchers. So number one, they wanted a real focus on enhancing crop insurance, that's what we do right up front”

Hoeven says other key provisions help livestock producers and keep sugar program going.
