Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Sochi Olympics begin in one week and a familiar face will captain the US men's hockey team.

USA hockey announced today that former UND standout and current Minnesota Wild Zach Parise will wear the C.

Parise tied for the team lead in scoring at the 2010 Olympics and knows how high an honor it is to be selected as a captain.

Zach Parise/Team USA Captain: “It's a special thing, number one to be named on the team is awesome and then it's a special thing to be named captain of the team. I know a majority of guys wear a letter on their own team so there is going to be plenty of guys over there capable of doing it. But I'm pretty humbled to be named the captain.”

Parise's teammate on the Wild; Ryan Suter will serve as an assistant captain.

The men's tournament starts February 12th, Team USA faces Slovakia in its first game on the 13th.
