Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -Todd Hoffner says his career is back on track.

The former MSU-Mankato football coach, who was charged with child pornography and resigned from Mankato, to seeing the charges dropped, was hired as the new football coach at Minot State.

Hoffner was very successful with the Mavericks going 34-13 in four seasons.

Todd Hoeffner, New Minot State head coach: “Back in the coaching world and back in the coaching arena and that's a very exciting thing for me. I've been away from the game far too long and it's something that I've done for 25 years of my life and I'm happy to be back. Had an opportunity to borrow one of the coaches whistles today, didn't put it in my mouth, but I did borrow his whistle. Had an opportunity to put it around my neck and it felt awfully good.”

Hoffner says he needs three to five years to turn around the team.

The Beavers won just two games in 2013.
