Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -President Obama laid out his plans tonight for getting around a divided Congress in his fifth State of the Union speech and "opportunity" became the buzz-word.

A hot topic was minimum wage, and he focused on growing inequality and stagnant income for the middle class.

He also addressed climate change to aim at promoting the country's gas and oil resources while balancing environmental impact concerns.

A big moment was when Obama discussed the importance of economic opportunity for women.

President Barack Obama: “It is time to do away with workplace policies that belong in a “Mad Men” episode. This year, let's all come together; Congress, the White House, businesses, Wall Street to Main Street to give every woman the opportunity she deserves because I believe when women succeed, America succeeds.”

Among the many issues discussed tonight, the president also vows to improve education at all levels.
