Fargo, N.D. (WDAY TV) -It's almost too much for one family to take.

Three years after losing two grandchildren in a car crash, the Boyer family is now dealing with the loss of their home.

Not much remains of Kevin and Maureen Boyer's Grand Forks home after a fire Monday night.

Authorities believe the blaze was caused by the home's fireplace.

The Boyers weren't home at the time and neighbors were able to rescue several pets.

This isn't the first tragedy for the Boyers.

Three years ago, two of their grandchildren died in a car accident, after a truck driver failed to yield at an intersection near the Grand Forks airport.

Now, Officials say the damage to the home could be $100,000 plus.

Lt. BJ Maxson, Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department: ”The home and the contents with our deputies that responded last night put the damage at about $250,000 so I would say the home would be at a total loss.”

The home is adjacent to the family business, Magoo's Tattoos, which was not damaged in the fire.

The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and clothing to the family.
