Fargo, ND (DWAY TV) - If you've had your thermostat turned down after Xcel energy's request, you're in luck- you can sleep warmer tonight.

Xcel energy has lifted its conservation restrictions for North Dakota and Minnesota natural gas customers.

After a pipeline explosion near Winnipeg, company officials made phone calls to customers, asking them to turn their thermostats down to 60 degrees to avoid outages while they made repairs.

But they say the shortage is easing and the system should be back up and running at full capacity today.

Mark Nisbet/Xcel Energy: “you 60 below temperatures. Our system is pretty much at max load then and to lose a big part of that supply is why we went to that extraordinary measure of getting on these automated calls”

Xcel is asking about 600 business customers in North Dakota and Minnesota who participate in Xcel's Interruptible Gas Rates program to still cut back on their natural gas use.
