Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)- It's been nearly an entire year since the Milnor boys basketball team last suffered a loss, February 9th will mark the one year anniversary.
Since then the Bison have rattled off 24 straight wins, including last year's state championship.
Whether it's on the court or with a video game controller in their hand. Briton Bussman and Wyatt Mund,
love to compete.
Wyatt Mund/17.6 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 6.1 apg: “If we are playing Madden I'm gonna win cause I got Michael Vick with the Eagles and that's my team.”
Briton Bussman/27.5 ppg, 8.8 rpg: “I don't know, he said he could beat me, but it's pretty even usually.”
While only one can have bragging rights after a game of Madden, both deserve some praise for what they've done with a basketball in their hand.
Bussman is averaging nearly 28 points per game, and is the 2nd leading scorer in the state.
Mund: “He shoots great, he passes the ball well too. I mean we got great chemistry and it's what we work with.”
Bussman: “Trying to work a lot more defensively, trying to guard the other team's best player, gotta get out and work that way and try and get easy buckets in transition.”
Ben Nelson/Milnor Head Coach (15-0 this sesason): “He was a pure shooter when he was younger, I always knew he could put the ball in the basket but he has developed just into a dominate point guard. He can get to the hole, he can pull up and his floor vision is getting better and better as he has gotten older.”
Mund's numbers are equally impressive, he averages nearly a double-double, and at 6' 4", he's surprisingly leading the team in assists with 6 helpers per game.
Nelson: “He is probably the best passing big man I have ever seen at the high school level. He has the ability to see the floor and see passes that sometimes I don't see.”
Bussman: “He can play inside and out, he's a really unselfish guy, if someone else has a better shot than him he's gonna give it up.”
Success is something this duo is use to, After decade of working together.
Bussman: “It's great being able to play with someone and you can know what they are gonna do before they do it just having that chemistry.”
Mund: “We just meet up at the Mac whenever we can and go play basketball.”
Nelson: “You heard about them even when they where younger, they have been playing basketball and winning at basketball for a lot of years. So yeah everybody knew who they were.”
And if they didn't they do know, because goals like this
“We wanted to go undefeated.”
“Hopefully repeat again that'd be nice.”
don't come around very often.
Big one on Tuesday, The Bison host Oak Grove.
