Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Some residents seemed to have beaten those agencies to the punch; as long lines at the grocery store were common today as people stocked up before the blizzard.

With bad weather comes a last minute blitz to the local grocery store.

Chris Deleon/Hugo’s Assistant Store Director: "All our tills are going to be running. Due to the weather customers will be coming in, buying groceries if they find out it's going to be 3 to 4 inches of snow."

A fact that customers know all too well.

"It's really busy."

Lisa Svejkosvsky/Grand Forks Shopper: "Oh yes. If you know that there's a storm coming and you have to be to the store for something the parking lots usually pretty full."

People looking to buy the essentials.

"The basic hot items are milk and bread."

"Make sure we have milk and bread."

"Break and Milk."

And those other items, that make outlasting the storm a little more fun and cozy.

Kathy Hendrickson/Grand Forks Shopper: "Hot cocoa, popcorn."

Hannah Mattern/Grand Forks Shopper: "I'm actually big on tea. So I'd have that. Have things in the cupboards if I want to whip up chili or stew."
