Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Salvation Army celebrated a few long time volunteers Friday who are hanging up their aprons.

Ron and Elaine Rateau have spent Fridays for the past seven years prepping and serving meals through the Salvation Army's Feeding Program.

The pair each put in more than 5,000 hours of volunteer time in all, but the couple says they were just looking to make a difference when they started out.

Ron and Elain Rateau/Retiring Salvation Army Volunteers: "We started ringing bells and then one thing leads to another and it's something, it's something the community needs."

The pair won an award for their efforts back in 2011.
