Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The NDSU men's basketball team hasn't forgotten about the last time they played South Dakota State.
It was last March, and the Jacks defeated the Bison in the Summit League championship to advance to the NCAA tournament.
The Bison roster hasn't changed, but the Jackrabbits have.
NDSU no longer has to deal with Nate Wolters, whose averaging 6 points per game with the Milwaukee Bucks this season.
But, the Jacks haven't dropped off much, led by a strong post game, SDSU is 10-9 this season and 2-2 in the conference, Saul Phillips says, with last year's game still fresh in the memory, there's no need for a pep talk for this one.
Saul Phillips/ NDSU Head Coach: “It can drive you crazy. Basketball is a sport that lends itself to head butting lockers and each other then running out on the court and playing well. We need to keep our composure, we need to play well.”
Chris Kading/NDSU Soph. Forward: “It's always great going down there, I mean it's always a good game with them and the crowd is always really great so it's a fun atmosphere to play in.”
Marshall Bjorklund/NDSU Sr. Forward: “Every time we've gone down there it’s been physical. They've always had good teams ever since I've came here. They've had some pretty competitive teams so I don’t think it's going to chance this year.”
It's a 4 p.m. tip-off Saturday in Brookings.
