Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Samples of 20th century lace fashion highlights an exhibit in the Family Life Center on the NDSU campus this winter.

The exhibit at the Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection runs through the end of February.

The display shows how lace and its many different styles have evolved over time, at one point; lace was considered more valuable than gold.

Ann Braaten/Curator, Emily Reynolds Historical Costume Collection: "There were farms and mills that were bought and sold just to pay for one outfit of lace."

The Costume Collection is home to more than 5,000 pieces of clothing that are from the region, related to fashion, or related to international or cultural dress.
