FARGO - Two Fargo legislators announced Friday they will not seek re-election.

District 41 Sen. Tony Grindberg and District 45 Rep. Joe Heilman, both Republicans, issued separate news releases announcing their intentions.

Grindberg has served in the North Dakota Senate since 1992. He is the aerospace business manager at Appareo Systems. He said it is the right time to focus on a new career.

“My plans are to remain involved with strategic community-based initiatives that I know can positively impact our community by using my public service experience and leadership skills,” Grindberg said in the news release.

Heilman was first elected to the Legislature in 2010 at the age of 25. He also works for Appareo Systems in business development.

“I am proud of the work we have done in the Legislature to reform education funding formulas, provide opportunities for young families to thrive, and provide significant tax relief to our citizens,” Heilman said in his release.
