TRF Motorcyclist Airlifted to Fargo After Colliding With Pickup

FOSSTON, Minn. – A 43-year-old man was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo after a motorcycle and pickup collided Saturday near Fosston in Minnesota’s Polk County.
Darin Thorpe of Thief River Falls, Minn., was westbound on Polk County 1 when he lost control on a curve, crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound Ford pickup, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Thorpe was riding with a large group of motorcyclists at the time. The collision threw him off his bike onto the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.
Thorpe was initially taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fosston, where he was stabilized, and later airlifted by helicopter to Sanford. His condition was unknown.
A Sanford spokeswoman said Thorpe was not a patient at the hospital as of this morning.
The crash was reported at 2:40 p.m. Saturday about 3 miles west of Fosston.
